This project was one of Worcestershire County Council’s Playbuilder sites completed in phase one. Wolverley, near Kidderminster was in need of a playground for its children and since it’s opening at the beginning of April has been used extensively over the Easter break.
In 2008 Lesley Fox of Wyre Forest District Council contacted Playdale and introduced us to the Chairman Peter Smith and the rest of the Memorial Hall Committee to discuss their initial ideas. The committee wanted a medieval themed playground and after seeing a photograph of another flagship Playdale site in Ireland, our towers with castle style roofs were perfect for the site.
The playground area also had natural mounds and slopes which we incorporated into the design by using embankment equipment. We also utilised the existing mounds by creating adventurous tunnels running through them. All the equipment was selected from our Timber range to blend in with the natural landscape and was further complemented with loosefill safety surfacing.
Peter Smith, Chairman of the Memorial Hall Fund commented, "The design has proven to be perfect for our undulating site and the resulting playground has drawn compliments from all of the granting bodies, parents and children alike and the general appearance, with it’s thoughtful mix of natural timber and coloured plastics are just perfect for our location".
