Summer is here and so are the school holidays! Children need entertaining once again during the long summer break. When you can find a great park with exciting play equipment to suit all ages and space to relax over a picnic what more do you need? So we’re going to help you find some!
Welcome back to Playdale’s Picnic & Play ‘where to’ series of regular news articles about parks with play areas in the Playdale regions across the UK, which are particularly popular for families during the holiday periods.
This week we’re down in the South Central region of England which is home to some of the most idyllic countryside. Jilly Saunders our Area Manager for this region has suggested a couple of family friendly parks and playgrounds for you to try. There are of course many more Playdale playgrounds across the whole of this part of the country, so you won’t struggle to find one near you. Beale Park Wildlife Park & Gardens, Lower Basildon, Pangbourne, Berkshire, RG8 9NW
Beale Park is an outdoor wildlife park within 30 acres set against the River Thames in Berkshire. It has three main areas of attraction: collections of small exotic animals, farm animals and birds; landscaped gardens and woodlands; and children’s play areas. There is also a gift shop, education centre, and restaurant on site.
Waddesdon Manor, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, HP18 0JH
Waddesdon Manor was built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild between 1874 and 1885 to display his outstanding collection of arts and to entertain the fashionable world. Opened to the public in 1957, it’s managed by The Rothschild Foundation, a family charitable trust, on behalf of the National Trust.
There is an exciting Woodland Playground which is open from Wednesday to Sunday.
From toddlers to young teens; children are free to jump, swing, climb, skip and play all day long. The playground winds through the trees, making use of the natural environment to create a magical area. Equipment includes Timber Swings for all ages, Little Hamlets Toddler Tower Unit, Jukebox Junior Tower Unit and items from our Timber Adventure Trail.
It’s a perfect rural location for a day out, picnic… and of course play.
