‘A buffet to boost funds for Ulverston Mind’

Pulled Pork & Coleslaw Brioche Buns, Millionaires Shortbread and Gin, Poppy seed & Lemon Cake  were just some of the irresistible items on offer at our ‘Great British Make, Bake, Bring & Buy Buffet’ yesterday at Playdale HQ. The event was organised by Emma Simpson (pictured above) to boost our fundraising for the fantastic local charity we’re supporting throughout 2018, Ulverston Mind.

Savoury and sweet contributions were generously added (by staff) to our buffet spread during the course of the morning. By lunchtime, any good intentions were soon forgotten when the buffet was declared open. Everyone treated themselves to a delicious plateful and enjoyed a sociable lunch with colleagues in our sunny outdoor seating area.

We always try and recognise the effort that staff go to for our bake sales by judging and awarding 1st, 2nd and 3rd Star Baker prizes so we thought it only fitting do the same for this buffet event.

It was yet again a very difficult job to choose the winners as everything was so impressive! First place was awarded to Adam Thickett one of our Design Engineers for his marvellous Millionaires Shortbread. Second place was awarded to Mark Todd from our Production Team for his cracking Carrot Cake. Third place went to Jamie Martin who made some extremely tasty Pulled Pork with Home-Made Coleslaw and Mini Brioche Buns…extremely moreish!

The donation pot filled up nicely and a fantastic £102 was raised for this very worthy local cause.

We’re already looking forward to our next (big!) fundraising event for Ulverston Mind, so make sure you watch this space and keep an eye on our Corporate Social Responsibility website page (CSR).

Ulverston Mind supports people concerned about their mental health and works to promote and enhance mental well-being.
