Ambitious ApprenticesThursday, 6th October 2016 4:33 pm
Playdale are embracing the successful, nationwide Apprenticeship Scheme with the recruitment of Owen Price and Scott Phizacklea; our very first apprentices.
Why we have done it?
Apprenticeships combine practical training in a job, with study. We saw the opportunity for apprentices to fill the skills gap that exists within our current work force and acted on it. Owen and Scott are working alongside skilled, experienced Playdale staff and gaining invaluable job-specific skills. They are studying towards NVQ qualifications in Fabrication which, once completed, they can immediately put to use for the benefit of themselves, Playdale Playgrounds and the economy as a whole.
Both Owen and Scott are already making a valuable contribution to the business during their training period and were happy to pose for a few photos ‘at work’ & tell us a bit more about themselves.
Owen lives in Barrow-in-Furness and prior to his apprenticeship he studied Fabrication & Welding related practical topics at Furness College in Barrow. In his spare time he enjoys playing & watching football, and also enjoys a spot of fly fishing.
Scott lives in Dalton-in-Furness. Prior to his apprenticeship,Scott also studied Fabrication related subjects at Furness College in nearby Barrow. When Scott isn’t at work or studying he enjoys playing football and cricket.
Apprenticeships are a fantastic way to start a career as they can open up permanent job opportunities in a range of industry sectors. Not only do they provide vital skills that employers seek when taking on new staff, they also allow you to earn a wage and develop your personal and professional skills.
Welcome to Playdale Owen & Scott!
