Bake sale boosts funds for Matt’s marathon challenge

Playdale held a hugely successful bake sale yesterday to help boost the fundraising efforts of our CNC and CGL Assemblies Team Leader Matt McGinley. Matt is taking part in this year’s London Marathon as part of the Fields in Trust marathon team who are running to help protect playing fields and parks forever.

Members of Playdale staff ‘got their bake on’ and produced the most mouth-watering array of cakes & bakes. There were plenty of showstoppers, and definitely no soggy bottoms! From healthy brownies, flapjack and blueberry muffins to fresh strawberry victoria sponge and chocolate Guinness cupcakes; there was quite a selection!

Any good intentions went out of the window as no one could resist a sweet treat to accompany their cups of tea & coffee throughout the day. Very soon the donation boxes were feeling heavy and filling up nicely.

We managed to raise an amazing £152 to boost Matt’s fundraising total and benefit this very worthy cause.

Fields in Trust (FIT) were founded in 1925 as the National Playing Fields Association by King George V. Their mission is the same now and as it was then; to ensure that everyone – young or old, whatever their ability and wherever they live – should have access to free, local outdoor space for sport, play and recreation. These spaces are vital to building happy and healthy communities and sadly they continue to be threatened by all kinds of development. FIT are a national charity and operate throughout the UK to safeguard recreational spaces and campaign for better statutory protection for all kinds of outdoor sites.

Everyone enjoyed sampling the homemade treats and supporting Matt in his marathon challenge.
