Chocolate & Guinness Cupcakes, Lemon, Raspberry & Almond Cake and Oreo Squares were just some of the irresistible baked goodies on offer at our Macmillan Coffee Morning yesterday.
Any good intentions were soon forgotten as the event was declared open and the donation box started filling up fast. Coffee & cake was soon the order of the day!
We were bowled over by the number of staff members who ‘got their bake on’ and produced the most mouth-watering array of cakes & bakes. There were plenty of showstoppers and definitely no soggy bottoms! The delicious display also included Coffee & Walnut Cake, Malteser Squares and even some warming Ginger & Chilli Cookies! It was definitely ‘baking it’ not ‘faking it’ at Playdale.
With Great British Bake Off fever in the air we thought it only fitting to choose a Best Baker. The title was awarded to Stephen Cowley of our Technical Department who baked the stunning Lemon, Raspberry and Almond Cake. We couldn’t believe that Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood took time out of their busy schedules to judge the competition and present Stephen with his award!
A highly commended was awarded to Paul Wilkinson for his delicious Chocolate Cake which went down a treat at our Ulverston site.
