Having a Field Day!Tuesday, 18th August 2015 4:00 pm
We held our first Fields in Trust ‘Field Day’ on Friday afternoon and the rain wasn’t going to stop us from having a great time.
The family fun day was packed with activities for both children and parents and, although we were worried that a never-ending downpour was going to spoil the day, everyone got stuck into the fun and had a great time.
An exciting Treasure Hunt kicked off proceedings for the kids as they went on a mission to find ‘Captain Playdale’s’ hidden treasure. An impressive performance by the host, our Site Manager Mick, was so good that it left us all wondering if he was actually a part-time pirate!
The adults started to get competitive in the rugby placed-kick competition, followed by a penalty shoot-out against our Managing Director Barry, whose goalkeeping skills left a lot to be desired. A few people lost their footing during these activities and got soaked which just added to the fun.
An egg and spoon race for both the kids and adults was followed by a sack race, which ended with Barry and our Technical & Operations Director Paul falling over each other across the finish line, determined not to be outdone by one another and hold bragging rights on Monday.
A fantastic BBQ of beautiful pork and apple burgers, beef burgers and sausages gave everyone a chance to refuel and to raise a bit of money for the charity, before a kick-about in the puddles and a game of rounders finished the day off.
Fields in Trust is a fantastic charity that helps to protect vital open spaces throughout the UK so that we can enjoy them, play with our kids, and children can enjoy going to parks and playgrounds. You can find out more about the charity here or why not organise your own #FieldDay?
We can’t wait for next years!
