Last week our Chairman John Croasdale made his way down to London to attend the national Family Business United’s (FBU) Family Business of the Year Awards which were held this year at the Mayfair hotel. The FBU works with family businesses and their professional advisers to bring the family business community together.
These awards celebrate family firms across the UK and are now in their fourth year. We were delighted that our submission successfully impressed the judges and we were shortlisted as finalists in the manufacturing category.
It was a well-attended event with over 100 companies present who were nominated for awards. Some awards were regional, some national and certain ones were industry specific.
The national manufacturing category was announced early on in the proceedings. To say we were surprised, delighted and proud when Playdale were announced winners of the national 2016 Manufacturing Family Business of the Year Award is an understatement!
Paul Andrews, Managing Director & Editor-In-Chief of the FBU said that “The judges were impressed with the longevity of the family firm and the innovation and entrepreneurship that has been shown throughout its being. Although Playdale was only founded relatively recently, the family business can trace its roots back to 1735 and is now in the hands of the ninth generation.”
He went on to say, “They represent a great British manufacturer too where quality is at the core of the business and this innovative family firm truly deserves all the plaudits that winning this award brings.”
Our Chairman John Croasdale told us, “Our ‘Playdale Family’ won the Manufacturing Family Business of the Year award which is absolutely brilliant. I am very proud. We are manufacturing for both UK and international export markets and to be recognised with this national award is just fantastic. As a friend of mine always said, onwards and upwards!”
