A great day was had by all at the annual cricket match between Leven Valley CC and Eskdale CC last week, as the Leven Valley team triumphed to bring the trophy back to the Playdale Boardroom for safe keeping.

The exciting match has been a regular social event for many years, bringing families in the area together for some healthy competition and a fun day out.

The match took place at Leven Valley playing fields, which is next to Playdale’s head office. The 30-over game saw Leven Valley take the crown with a score of 143/7, while Eskdale put in a very commendable score of 104/all out. Both teams featured a mix of generations, giving a good combination of experience and fearless enthusiasm.

Dick Proctor, a former long-standing member of staff at Playdale, was Leven Valley’s manager for the day and the whole team were delighted to win the trophy back.

Thomas and Paul Bendall, two of our Finance Director’s children, also played for Leven Valley and put in good performances to help their team win.

Tea and coffee was served by the wives as both teams were cheered on, and everyone finished the day in the local pub in Haverthwaite, The Anglers, for some grub and celebratory drinks.

Well done to the players and to everyone that was involved in organising a fantastic day.
