With only 2 weeks to go until our Site Manager Mick O’Doherty takes on the tough Land’s End to John O’Groats cycling challenge (LEJOG), he has ramped up his training by completing the impressive Coast to Coast challenge.
Mick completed the 288 miles cycle from Backbarrow to Bridlington over two days, completing the last 50 miles in strong wind and rain. He arrived back in Backbarrow ‘like a drowned rat’ as his mum used to say!
Mick’s been training since September 2014 for the main event and has already completed a number of long-distance events in preparation, including the Fred Whitton Challenge and a number of sportives. He is aiming to complete LEJOG in 6-7 days, which will be a fantastic feat.
Mick said: “The Coast to Coast was great to prepare me for what lies ahead. The realisation of LEJOG is now hitting home, body parts are aching and I’ve made a note-to-self to bring plenty of painkillers!”
You can keep up with Mick’s progress throughout the challenge on our blog from the 21st July.
