Mick’s Lands’ End to John O’Groats Charity Challenge

Playdale’s Site Manager, Mick O’Doherty, is taking on the very tough challenge of cycling from Lands’ End to John O’Groats in 6/7 days on the 21st July 2015.

He’s doing it to raise money for two fantastic charities – Breakthrough Breast Cancer and The Philippines Community Fund.

Both charities are close to Mick’s heart, having lost his wife to breast cancer, and through previous work that he has done in the Philippines to help people affected by the super-typhoon which hit in 2013, killing 7000 people.

Mick, with the support of Playdale, has been closely involved with the Philippines Community Fund for the past 5 years. He has taken time out from his regular job to travel to the Philippines to work with some of the poorest people in the world and build playgrounds for children in terribly deprived areas.

February 2016 will be his fifth year of working on various projects in the country where he will be helping to build two playgrounds in the devastated region of Tachloban.

We wish Mick the best of luck in his challenge which he has been training for since September 2014, completing a number of gruelling events, including most recently the Fred Whitton event in 7 hours 38 minutes.

If you would like to find out a bit more about the challenge, his training efforts, the two charities he is supporting, or to make a kind donation then please take a look at his fundraising page.

You will be able to follow Mick’s progress from the 21st July on our website.
