Summer is here and so are the school holidays! Children need entertaining once again during the long summer break. When you can find a great park with exciting play equipment and the space to relax over a picnic, what more do you need? With this in mind, we’re going to help you find some!
Welcome back to Playdale’s Picnic & Play ‘Where to…’ series – news articles about parks with play areas in the Playdale regions across England, which are particularly popular for families during the holiday periods.
This week we’re in Cumbria and Lancashire where Paul Battye, Regional Manager for the North, has suggested two family-friendly parks and playgrounds for you to try. So why not kick back and relax with a tasty picnic while your children enjoy the array of fantastic play equipment & lovely surroundings!
Brockhole, The Lake District Visitor Centre, Windermere, Cumbria LA23 1LJ
A perfect family day out! The Lake District Visitor Centre provides a variety of outdoor activities. These include a cafe and gardens, bike hire, mini-golf and the free adventure playground, which is a long-standing feature on the grounds.
Updated in 2018, the Adventure Playground is home to a vast range of play equipment for children of all ages, including a customised Mountain Tower Plus with nine towers and five slides, an inclusive Team Swing, a Play Galleon Plus, a Play Ship, items from our timber Adventure Trail range, an Activity Net, an Aerial Runway, an inclusive Gravity Bowl, a Playhouse, a Twirly from our Caterpillar range, Toddler Swings, Play Panels and the Shelters & Shades.
Fairhaven Lake Inner Promenade, Lytham St Annes, Fylde Coast, Lancashire, FY8 1BD
Fairhaven Lake in the popular seaside town of Lytham St Annes features not one but two Playdale playgrounds!
The Pirate Cove play area, which was opened in Spring 2016, is a fantastic themed playground situated next to the Lake. It features one of our eye-catching Play Galleon Plus units from our Little Hamlets Plus range, a sandpit with treasure chest, a Wigwam, Swings, a Wobble Board, a Clatter Bridge, a Spring Whale, a Crawl Tunnel and Sea-horse Seesaw along with Log Walks, a Zig Zag Stepper, a second Play Ship, an Inclusive Orbit roundabout and Play Panels.
The newer adventure playground, designed for junior play, opened in Summer 2020. It features a jungle-themed Twist Plus junior multi-play unit from our Jukebox Plus range, an inclusive Team Swing and Gravity Bowl, Congo Jungle Climber, 25m Aerial Runway, Rota Bounce and a large selection of products from our popular Timber Adventure Trail range.
Situated in the middle of the play area is a seating and shelter space. This space not only provides opportunities for relaxation, but also picnics in view of the play area.
We hope you enjoy the great opportunities for play and downtime in the school holidays, and we wish you all a happy and fun-filled summer!
