Playdale were delighted to part of a fantastic tribute to a very popular local man who sadly passed away at the age of 21 in February 2009.
Mark Coward, from Askam-in-Furness, held a special place in the hearts of the people that knew him and his community has pulled together to raise funds for a new play area at his former school, Ireleth St. Peter’s CE Primary School.
Thanks to the efforts of Mark’s friends and family, the play area now has one of our Adventure Trail’s in his memory, which will be enjoyed by children for many years.
Playdale’s Sales Coordinator Team Leader Kelly Sanderson, and her sister Debbie, were good friends with Mark and the money that they raised helped contribute towards the play area.
Kelly said: “I’m very proud to have been involved in all of the fundraising over the years, and I’m delighted with the amount of money that we have raised in memory of our friend Mark. It is great to see that the money raised in his memory is being used to benefit local children at his old school.”
Mark’s dad, Jeff, is delighted with the tribute, saying: “Mark will never be forgotten. People still talk about him and these two girls have been absolutely fantastic. I’d like to thank everyone for what they’ve done. It’s a marvellous tribute.”
