Playdale holds charity quiz night to support young carers

To kick-start the new year of fundraising for our 2018 chosen-by-staff worthy causes we held a charity quiz night last Saturday, which was a roaring success!

This particular event was in support of Furness Young Carers – a charity which supports young people (5-18 years old) who care for someone at home who is ill, disabled or frail (including mental illness and alcohol or drug abuse).

Teams made up of both Playdale and Furness Young Carers staff, family and friends packed out the Black Bull pub in Dalton-in-Furness ready to test their grey matter!

With team names including ‘Let’s Get Quizzical’, ‘The Gin & Tonics’ and ‘Quiztastic’ everyone really got stuck into the challenging quiz, brilliantly run by our Premises Manager Mick O’Doherty who made a fantastic quiz master! (Move over Chris Tarrant)

More fun and games were had with ‘Take Your Pick With Mick’, a raffle and entertainment from the fab local band Ulpha 590. The whole event raised an amazing £531!

Laura Hopkins, Young Carers Project Co-ordinator at Furness Young Carers contacted us after the event to say,

“Please pass on our thanks to Lisa, Mick and all the staff who organised, ran and supported the fantastic event on Saturday.  Lisa’s organisation skills deserve high praise; the prizes she’d collected and the way the evening ran were both superb.  Mick’s running of the quiz, raffle and take your pick were amazing.  He kept the whole show going with great enthusiasm. We were amazed by how many of the Playdale Team attended.  You are all lucky to be part of such a community-minded organisation. “
