I spent the first 18 years of my life living in Haverthwaite having a very enjoyable and active time with family, friends and work contacts. Following my degree in Economics at Leicester University I began my career as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst and Young and was with them for 17 years working in Leicester, Toronto and Bristol. I was involved with Playdale in a non – executive way when it began as a small family business and became a full time Executive Director 17 years ago. Since 1990 I have lived a busy and happy life in Gloucester with my husband. We have fun with our three boys and their school and sports club activities have been a large part of our social life. I love our family holidays, particularly winter skiing and varied foreign travels in summer.
Best thing about my job:
Playdale staff are experienced, enthusiastic and diligent – I value their honesty and integrity – it is a good place to work. When I became the Finance Director of our family business, the change had an immediate impact on me. It feels like I have a responsibility rather than just a job – a responsibility to the various Playdale stakeholders; staff, customers, suppliers, children. Working in Play is a good place to be as people in this Industry are striving to make children happy. Being involved in manufacturing whilst complex and challenging is also rewarding.
I was proud to see our installation at London’s Hyde Park which replaced a Playdale playground my Father, Jack Croasdale, was involved with in 1989. At the other end of the spectrum I love it when I turn up to watch a rugby match in a Cotswold village and there is a Playdale playground built for the community.
