John Croasdale

Founded Playdale in 1978 with Jack Croasdale.

About me:

Born in the Lake District and privileged to have lived and worked in the area all my life, I am the 9th generation of Croasdales to work in timber and steel, on the banks of the river Leven which flows out of Lake Windermere.

Best thing about my job:

I like work, I like business, it fascinates me.

Favourite playground:

The Haverthwaite Playing Fields Playground which is alongside the sports & community centre and the cricket field in the village where it all started.  This was the first playground we ever built. It has been developed and improved over many years and has recently been upgraded again. A fantastic and well used playground.

What our customers say...

The Playdale team worked closely with us to develop a vibrant theme for our new adventure playground at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse, which is a unique site. The designs presented by Playdale fitted in with our woodland and heritage environment really well. The installation of the new playground equipment came with complications including a challenging split level location, active protected wildlife and the Covid-19 lockdown but the Playdale team were flexible and were able to deliver a fantastic looking adventure playground area for us despite some challenges along the way. Our visitors are now enjoying the play equipment and the new bespoke tower units certainly complement the woodland surroundings and have the wow factor we were hoping to achieve.

“This is the third project our Academy Trust has undertaken with yourselves and as always the service has been excellent. We will definitely be working with you again.”

Jonathan Bell, Steel City Schools Partnership, Sheffield

We are absolutely delighted with the service we have been given and the finished product is amazing for our children to play on. Everyone that I spoke to at Playdale since I first made contact have been very supportive and the end product is exactly what we were looking for. Huge thanks to everyone at Playdale for these fantastic products.
