Tim Farron visits Playdale

We had an exciting end to last week when we welcomed a VIP guest to Playdale head office on Friday in the shape of the Leader of the Liberal Democrats and Member of Parliament for Westmorland & Lonsdale, Tim Farron. Tim was elected Leader of the Liberal Democrats in July 2015 but has been MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale since 2005.

Our Managing Director Barry Leahey met and got chatting to Tim’s fellow Liberal Democrat politician and MP Greg Mulholland a few months earlier, at the Federation of Small Businesses’ Worldpay UK Business Awards which were held at the QEII Conference Centre just outside the Houses of Parliament. Conversation then ensued about our head office manufacturing and office facilities being situated in Haverthwaite, Cumbria within Tim Farron’s Westmorland and Lonsdale Constituency. Playdale Playgrounds’ family business dates back to 1735 and has stood on the same site since then.

Greg Mulholland spoke to Tim following his meeting with Barry and we were delighted when we heard that he wanted to visit us to find out more about our Cumbrian manufacturing roots, export success and to see some playground equipment manufacturing in action!
