Loosefill

Loose-fill safer surfacing has excellent impact absorbing properties and combines well with many units to give a warm, natural appearance.

The capital cost of loosefill surfacing is far less than wet pour and tiles, however maintenance costs (i.e. raking and top-ups) should be taken into account.

To meet the requirements of BS EN 1176 and BS EN 1177, all Playdale loosefill surfaces should be maintained to a depth of 250mm. The use of raised loosefill areas will aid drainage.

Cushionfall
This is an environmentally friendly surface, produced from recycled timber products. The shreaded timber gives excellent impact absorbing properties and is provided in a variety of colours.

Playgrade Bark
This high quality graded Pine bark gives an attractive surface, which is well suited to most locations and for use with the majority of equipment.

Pebbles: Our Scottish Beach Pebbles are smooth and rounded and are approximately 30-50mm in size. They can be used throughout a play space to create small landscaped areas or can be fixed into concrete to provide a more stable but uneven textured surface.

Pea Gravel: Pea gravel can be used as a decorative surface in large areas at a 100mm depth. It would normally be used for a pedestrian or seating area but can also be used underneath suitable pieces of equipment at a 250mm depth

Sand
In some situations playgrade sand is an effective loosefill surface. It is also a play medium in its own right
