Following months of preparation, Playdale CEO Barry Leahey took the plunge and participated in the Great North Swim. The money raised will support #Team Playdales chosen good cause for 2022, the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity Children’s Appeal.
The official one-mile swim scheduled to be held at Lake Windermere was unfortunately cancelled due to high winds and choppy waters, but this did not deter Barry. To satisfy his sponsors, he completed his own swim at the Three Sisters Water Ski Centre. Barry exceeded his original goal by swimming 1.5 miles in total, half a mile further than he had planned!
Barry has so far raised an amazing total of £2,700 for this cause!
The Children’s Appeal, aims to raise £1 million to create a bright, friendly, and appealing environment for all children visiting hospitals across Lancashire. Provide children and their families with the best possible care and experience from the moment they arrive.
“As CEO of a play company, I know only too well the importance of play on emotional and physical development. Last year I was honoured to become Patron of the ambitious £1m Children’s appeal at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. Once I visited the wards, I knew I was going to do my bit, I am lucky enough to be able to do physical challenges such as the Great North Swim to help such a fantastic cause.”
