Coast & Country Housing is the largest registered housing provider in Redcar and Cleveland. They believe that working together with local people to find local solutions is a key factor in building and sustaining communities.
Just one of the ways that they have recently demonstrated this was through the creation of the new ‘Hummersea Hills Play Park’ in Loftus, North Yorkshire. This fantastic facility will really improve the lives of the children and their families living in this new development of 130 new homes. As Coast & Country Housing quite rightly say, they ‘don’t just build houses, they create neighbourhoods.’ It will give the new development a real community feel.
The play area, which has equipment that caters for a wide age range of children as well as for a broad range of abilities, was officially opened at the end of last year by the Town Mayor of Loftus.

Hummersea Hills Play Park was a joint project by Coast & Country Housing, Brambledown Landscape Services and Playdale Playgrounds. You can find out more about this collaboration and see the playground in action in this video below:
The exciting new equipment includes an inclusive Mambo Plus junior multi-play unit from our Jukebox Plus range, an inclusive Team Swing, Junior and Toddler Swings and a large selection of products from our popular Timber Adventure Trail range.

Coast & Country Housing worked closely with the children of Hummersea Primary School to help choose the name of the park. The school children also helped design the artwork for the big new playground sign, which features fifty-four of the pupils’ handprints.

The children living on this development now have an exciting new play area that provides a range of activities, allowing them to challenge themselves and have fun. Just as importantly all the local residents have a great new safe place to socialise and create long lasting relationships with friends and neighbours.

Learning at Work Week 2026 took place between 18th and 24th May and celebrated the value of continual learning, personal growth, and development within the workplace. This year’s theme, “Many Ways to Learn”, reflected something that is deeply embedded within life at Playdale. Throughout the week, 5 members of the Playdale team came together to […]
Planning a playground involves considerably more than choosing equipment. From initial site assessment and planning permission through to surface specification, layout design and inclusive provision, every decision has a bearing on how safe, accessible and enjoyable the finished space will be. This guide covers the key stages of playground planning and design, whether you are […]
Playground Equipment Inspection & Maintenance Regular playground inspections and maintenance are the two most important responsibilities any playground operator carries. A structured inspection programme, paired with prompt and […]
