Overlooking the stunning Dedham Vale, the new Summers Park housing development in Lawford, Essex features impressive tree-lined boulevards, classic garden squares, newly created parkland and…a great new play area! This project was fulfilled by housing developer ‘Rose’ who built approximately 150 new homes and coordinated (amongst other things), the design and installation of the new play area.
The challenge of this project was to create a playground area that will provide a safe environment for younger children within this new community to play nearby their homes. It also had to be exciting and appealing for the children whilst also providing a hub where parents & carers can socialise as they keep a watchful eye on their children.
Our Area Manager Will Desborough worked on this project with Justyn French of Rose Builders in Essex and following the installation Justyn told us he’d experienced a “Very professional service from design through to installation. I would definitely recommend Playdale in the future. Very happy.”
All the play items that went into this design were from our stainless steel ranges as it was essential that the equipment would be durable, hard wearing and require very little maintenance. The entire playground area was covered with wet pour safety surfacing; a continuous rubber surface that gives a high quality, hard wearing, slip resistant surface requiring little or no maintenance. This should all ensure that the play area can be enjoyed by children living on and around this development for many years to come.

The Gravity Bowl offers a design that allows for exciting, inclusive play as children can enjoy spinning round as fast as they can together, no matter what their ability. They will enjoy exhilarating speed & movement, as well as teamwork and social interaction.
The Rockin’ Rider springer creates a fast-moving rocking motion but timing and coordination are key!
The Infant Swings have cradle seats so that very little ones can safely enjoy their first experience of these playground favourites.
The Little City Peking is a stainless steel playground tower for younger children. The challenging climbing net and ladders will put their skills to the test before they experience the thrills of sliding to get back to the bottom.
The stainless steel City Twin Rider is a ‘seesaw style’ springer product that lets children work together to bounce as high as they can!
Playground seating can sometimes get overlooked but providing attractive seating options
in a play area will encourage involvement from parents and carers making it more comfortable to spend time on the site. Which as you can see has been done here at Summers Park with the City Seat, City Bench and the all-important contrasting stainless steel Litter Bin with lid.
The children in the area now have an exciting new play area that provides a range of activities, allowing them to challenge themselves and have fun. The parents in the area are delighted that they have a safe place for their children to play on their doorstep and somewhere that they can get to know their new neighbours!
