The elite of Cumbria’s business world was celebrated last week at a dazzling award ceremony hosted by TV & radio broadcaster Jeremy Vine. The in-Cumbria Business Awards were held at the Halston in Carlisle where over 250 prominent business leaders enjoyed an evening of recognition and celebration.
Hundreds of Cumbrian firms entered the fifteen different categories of the awards which included awards such as Best Innovation, Best New Business and Lifetime Contribution To Cumbria.
One of the most illustrious honours of the event was the Business Person Of The Year award which we are extremely proud and delighted to announce was presented to our MD Barry Leahey, MBE.

After receiving the award Barry said, “I am actually speechless about it. I genuinely didn’t believe I was going to win it and I am over the moon that I have. I feel very lucky to have been recognised in this way for doing a job that I absolutely love which fulfils me both professionally and personally.” He went on to say, “I am lucky enough to facilitate a great team of people. Some people call that leadership, but I call it facilitation. It’s getting the best out of the people that are there. I have got a really good team around me and they have all bought into the journey we are on.”
The in-Cumbria awards were held in association with Sellafield Limited.

Inclusive playground design, done well, is invisible, not because it’s hidden, but because it’s so naturally woven into the design that no child has to think about it. They just play. Together.
