An afternoon of Scorecards, Sand Bunkers and Six Irons in support of St Mary’s Hospice

Following the success of previous Playdale charity events, we decided to do it again! Teams made up of Playdale staff, and local keen golfers spent a happy afternoon putting, pitching and driving as they took part in a charity golf event to raise funds for the amazing St Mary’s Hospice.

A fantastic £1085 was raised. St Mary’s Hospice are one of Playdale’s chosen good causes for 2019; based in Ulverston St Mary’s Hospice provides care and comfort for patients living with any life-shortening illness or long-term conditions and their family.

This year the Playdale Charity Golf day took place at Ulverston Golf Club with its spectacular views over Morecambe Bay and the Lake District fells.

We were lucky enough to have some generous sponsorship for the event with a host of fantastic donated prizes. These became the raffle prizes and also prizes for golfing prowess in the shape of 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed teams, Nearest Pin and Longest Drive. Huge thanks to Muse Boutique, The Hot Mango and The Men’s Room to name a few of the supportive local companies.

Fifteen teams of four played a ‘Texas Scramble’ format and the tournament played out well, with everyone thoroughly enjoying themselves. Afterwards, it was into the clubhouse for food provided by the golf club, the raffle and some golfing reflection over a celebratory drink! (Celebrating a successful, enjoyable event)

The winners were as follows…

Inclusive Play – Integrate, Don’t Segregate
Monday, 13th April 2026
