Adventure Trail Has Never Looked This Good!

Client: Dalton St Mary’s C of E Primary School

Location: Dalton-in-Furness, Cumbria

“It was fantastic working with Playdale. The equipment is extremely well made and the children love every opportunity to get to play on it. From early years, right through to upper Key Stage 2 they thoroughly enjoy it” – Vicky Parkinson, KS2 Teacher

The Brief

Daltons St. Marys has long been a customer of Playdale. After 18 years of playtime, it was time to update the school’s existing adventure trail with something new and more challenging for the children.

Mrs. Woodburn, headteacher of Dalton St Marys contacted Playdale to arrange for Local Area Manager, Jonathan Dunn, to visit the school to carry out a free, no-obligation site survey and consultancy.

The school was eligible for PE & Sports Premium funding, which they planned to use to improve the playground. Outdoor play equipment is an excellent way to encourage pupils to be more physically active during every single playtime.

The Challenge

Drainage had become an issue over the years where the existing adventure trail was installed. To address this, the installation team installed a higher stone subbase beneath the Bonded Rubber Mulch Surfacing to aid the sites drainage.

The Outcome

The school’s new Adventure Trail, complete with steel ground fixings, now provides puddle-free play and is ideal for children in Key Stages 1 and 2. It challenges a variety of skills and help to develop balance, coordination, strength, problem solving, and agility. Steel Ground Fixings are standard on all Adventure Trail pieces. Therefore, they significantly extend the life of the timber posts, with a 20-year guarantee.
