Fleetwood Town FC’s fabulous new play area on the Fylde Coast

“The installation of the playpark was a seamless process thanks to the ‘design to delivery product’ offered by Playdale. Having the playground has added great value to our business. We now cater for families and children, who would have used alternative facilities had we not installed the park. Having the FTFC logo and brand on the park makes it unique and reminds young people of who we want them to support!” – Michael Horsfall, Football & Facilities Operations Manager, Fleetwood Town Football Club.

Poolfoot Farm Sports and Leisure Complex is Fleetwood Town FC’s state-of-the-art training facility in Thornton, on the Fylde Coast region of Lancashire. Boasting some of the best training facilities in the UK, this venue, that’s open to the public, has numerous grass and artificial multi-sports pitches, fitness rooms, meetings rooms, a bar and a restaurant. To add to this impressive list of facilities they now also have a fantastic new coastal-themed play area.

We were absolutely delighted when they chose our playground designs and proposals after consultation meetings with Paul Battye, our Regional Manager for the North earlier this year.

The centrepiece of the play area is the bespoke, themed Play Galleon Plus multi-play tower unit. Poolfoot Farm put in a special request to personalise this unit by having it fully manufactured in the red and grey colours that appear on the club emblem. Not only that but we also managed to include the club emblem itself which sits proudly on the ship’s sail!

Themed and bespoke playgrounds can tell a story and allow imaginations to run wild! As you can see we also incorporated bright, colourful wet pour safety surfacing in our design. The vivid colours complement the bright colours in the equipment and bring this individually themed playground to life. It makes the whole area more appealing and exciting to visitors. Playgrounds spark imagination and automatically draw people together.

The new playground has had rave reviews so far from the many visitors that Poolfoot Farm receives throughout the year and it will no doubt attract even more families and groups to enjoy the venue.

Inclusive playground design, done well, is invisible, not because it’s hidden, but because it’s so naturally woven into the design that no child has to think about it. They just play. Together.
