Marvellous play area makeover for Made-Well

“It was a joy working with Will Harrison to provide an inclusive play area here at Made-Well. We found Playdale to be an experienced company that supplies quality equipment” Laura Feaver Made-Well CIC

The non-profit organisation Made-Well Community Interest Company are thrilled with their new playground at West Fishleigh Farm, Okehampton, Devon. Made-Well provides ‘a range of constructive, purposeful and positive day opportunities for people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental ill-health diagnosis.’ Their inclusive service encourages accessibility for all abilities irrespective of age, background & qualifications.

This project was made possible by Pocket Parks Plus Grant Funding from the Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government. Made-Well CIC received the funds to create a disabled access and all-ability play area.

The equipment chosen was a mixture of stainless steel and timber, providing a contrast of materials. Not only is the play area situated in beautiful scenic views, but it also overlooks working allotments and animal areas, providing new experiences for all visitors.

There is a variety of play equipment at the site including an Indie Plus with inclusive net access from our Jukebox Plus Range of multi-play tower units, a Gravity Rider, Gravity Bowl and inclusive stainless steel Team Swing along with a Junior Swing and a Cradle Swing.

The above photo shows the site before installation. Made-Well completed all groundworks in preparation of the playground equipment.

Grasslok interlocking rubber tiles were used to provide safety surfacing beneath the equipment. The tiles are impact absorbing and still allow the existing grass to grow as normal.

The grass established itself and grew through the surfacing in time for the opening of the new play area!

“We have had lots of visitors come and use it already. We’ve got picnic benches and you can see the animals. It’s right next to the chickens and ducks with really scenic views. We are really pleased with it.” Laura Feaver Made-Well CIC

Made-Wells next step is to fundraise for phase two of the project which will include our popular Inclusive Orbit.  This piece of equipment will be added to the already fully inclusive play area providing even more fun for the people at Made-Well.

We look forward to hearing from you!
