Pontyberem is a former mining village located near Llanelli in Carmarthenshire, Wales. Pontyberem’s Community Council is a dynamic group of volunteers who have recently completely transformed what was the tired village park’s playground play area in need of much repair, into an awesome, exciting fun-packed hub for everyone at the heart of the community.
Over the course of the last two years, the group has worked tirelessly applying for numerous grants and funding to ensure this project would come to fruition. Persistence and patience certainly paid off as their hard work resulted in an incredible final project total (over two separate phases) that made their playground wishes come true.

The main brief that the community council gave to us was that the play area needed to have the wow factor, be accessible to be enjoyed by all abilities and to have some really eye-catching themed safety surfacing that would bring the whole area to life. We think you’ll agree that the end result is all of this and more!

Almost all of the equipment selected for this site is from our stainless steel ranges. These ranges have been designed to be as low maintenance and robust as possible, but at the same time to be stylish and full of exciting play value. The equipment provides the ultimate in durability and virtually maintenance free play equipment and comes with guarantees of up to 25 years. So it’s safe to say that this play area will be enjoyed by a huge number of children, for years to come.

The bright, colourful themed wet pour safety surfacing really enhances any playground for safety, aesthetic and play value reasons. Using a variety of colours and an array of outer space themed designs, specialist company RTC Safety Surfacing once again worked closely with us on this project to produce a fantastic end result.
Any new playground deserves a grand opening and this one was no exception! Crowds gathered to witness the play area being officially opened by Wales, Scarlets and Lions rugby player Ken Owens. Then it was a green light for all the excited children to try out the vast selection of equipment for all ages.

This play area has already become a fantastic and vital social hub and focal point for the local community. Parents, grandparents and carers can meet up to socialise whilst their young ones are entertained for hours on the exciting and challenging equipment.
Hard work from the community council has culminated in this superb new play area that they can all be proud of and that children will enjoy for many years to come.
