One of the two main focal points of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) work is ‘Demonstrating Support For Our Community’. Playdale is committed to providing volunteer support to the local community. Throughout 2017 we supported three chosen local causes and initiatives through voluntary efforts of staff.
At the end of 2016 Playdale staff members nominated good causes they’d like to see the company support through the following year. These nominations were put to a company-wide staff vote and the top three choices then became our chosen good causes for 2017. As you may be aware the top three voted for were; The Bendrigg Trust, The North West Air Ambulance and Jack’s Journey.
A very busy, rewarding and fun-filled year then followed that resulted in an incredible final total raised of £6,134 for these three good causes! To achieve this, we came up with ideas for, organised and took part in fourteen charity events. Two of these events included walking/running a total of 478 miles and kayak paddling a total of 99 miles! 50% of Playdale staff members took part in and/or supported these events, along with thirteen non-staff members.
The end of last year saw the same nomination and voting process to choose 2018’s good causes for our new year of charity fundraising. The votes were incredibly close as all the nominated causes clearly struck chords in so many people’s hearts. There are so many brilliant and deserving charities and good causes. However the top three voted for that we’re now supporting throughout 2018 are; Furness Young Carers, Mind (Mental Health Charity) and once again the Bendrigg Trust.
We all look forward to making as much of a difference as we can to these three deserving causes as we did in 2017.
