Ford Parks fantastic new community playground

Case Study: Ford Park

Client: Ford Park Community Group

Location: Ulverston, Cumbria

“We were delighted to work with Playdale, a local company. We love the look of the playground as it fits perfectly within our parkland setting. The Playdale team from initial liaison, to design to installation were great to work with and very attentive to our needs. Our focal point was always available and kept us routinely up to date and truly went above and beyond. The playground, now open, is very busy and is being enjoyed by the local families and visitors alike and we have been overwhelmed by positive feedback from the community.” Jill Salmon, Ford Park

Ford Park in Cumbria’s beautiful market town of Ulverston is the beating heart of the community. Set on nine acres of green space, the project includes a kitchen garden community project and a restaurant that serves homemade and locally sourced produce from the on-site kitchen garden.

Ford Park had long desired to widen their facilities to be more inclusive for all and a new playground was an exciting step towards this goal.

There was real need for a playground that would  blend in perfectly with the natural surroundings and cater for a wider range of ages and abilities incorporating the existing mound into the playground design.

The playground was officially opened by The Lord-Lieutenant and Her Majesty The Queens representative of Cumbria, Claire Hensman. Members of #Team Playdale were also in attendance, including Playground Designer Catherine Courtman who put together the proposal for the new playground and Contracts Manager, Mick O’Doherty who oversaw its installation.

Hard work from The Ford Park Community Group & local businesses has culminated in a fantastic new community play area that they can be proud of and that children will enjoy for many years to come.
