Picnic & Play This Summer in Buckinghamshire

Picnic & Play.. in Buckinghamshire

Welcome to Playdale’s Picnic and Play guide for 2025, created to help families find the best parks and playgrounds over the summer holidays!  We’ve made sure all these parks are equipped with a fantastic selection of playground equipment and spaces to relax and enjoy a picnic.

This week, we are heading to the home of the beautiful Chiltern Hills, Buckinghamshire. Lewis McGiffin (our Area Sales Manager for Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, and the Isle of Wight) has chosen some of the best family-friendly playgrounds in the county for you to explore.

There are, of course, many more Playdale playgrounds across Buckinghamshire and the rest of the UK, so you won’t struggle to find one near you.

Marlow Bottom Playing Field

Marlow Bottom, Marlow SL7 3PJ (what3words: caged.arrow.glare)

A wooden playground on grass with a Woodland Eco Towers climbing frame, it has two raised platforms joined by a net bridge. The unit features rope-climbing nets, monkey bars and ladder-like climbing modules. To the right of the unit, the park also features a 4-Bay Swing, including a basket team swing, junior swing seats, and toddler swing seats, supported by a large wooden A-frame.

Situated on the outskirts of Marlow, this playground is the perfect day out with your children this summer.

The highlight of this playground is our fantastic 4-Bay Swing, offering something for everyone. Including our inclusive Team Swing seat, two cradle seats and four junior seats. Making sure there’s plenty of room for the whole family to join in!

Meanwhile, for those who are ready for more adventure, the playground features one of our best-selling Woodland Eco Tower units. Allowing you to climb, explore, and embark on true playground adventures during your visit.

Additionally, the playground is surrounded by a generous green space, perfect for a family picnic. And, if you’re visiting later in the day, you’ll find a fish and chip shop just a short walk away.

Franklin Fields

Chartridge, Chesham HP5 2TT (what3words: unrated.ethic.grace)

A large outdoor playground on grass and rubber mulch safety surfacing. There are several play structures on this playground. In the foreground, there is a metal Inclusive Orbit roundabout designed for wheelchair accessibility, it is surrounded by some rubber mulch for safety. To the left, there is a 2-Bay Swing set with an additional bay for a toddler seat. The swings feature junior seats and an inclusive team swing basket seat. In the centre, behind the roundabout, there is a red Play Tractor with Trailer and a wooden seesaw. Lastly, on the right, there is a Woodland Eco Towers climbing frame- featuring a green slide, inclined rope access and monkey bars.

We have recently transformed this playground with brand-new equipment, offering a fantastic range of outdoor play opportunities.

Your family will love going for a spin on our Inclusive Orbit roundabout, before heading over to the swings, seeing who can swing the highest!

We fitted the swings with an additional bay, perfect for allowing younger children to join in the fun too. There is also a Play Tractor and Trailer, for them to climb aboard and test the limits of their imaginations with endless role-play adventures.

With wide open green space surrounding the playground, Franklin Fields is also ideal for family picnics, ball games, or simply enjoying the fresh air as a family.

The playground offers a wide range of equipment, including our Timber Adventure Trail, swings, slides, multi-play units, Play Panels, and much more to discover on your visit!

If that’s not exciting enough, you have the choice to bring along your skating gear and take on the challenge of the skate park!

The park also has several picnic benches overlooking the playground. Perfect for giving your children room to explore independently while you unpack your picnic.

If you forget your picnic, do not worry! There is a local shop right next to the park where you can buy snacks while your children play.

Three young girls, one wearing a long-sleeved grey shirt with long brown hair in a ponytail, another wearing a long-sleeved pink shirt with mid-length brown hair tied in a pony tail, wearing glasses. And the last wearing a long-sleeved blue shirt with blonde hair tied in a ponytail. They are sat at a wooden picnic table in a grassy park, smiling and chatting. The sunny day and green trees create a joyful, relaxed atmosphere.

Whether you live in Buckinghamshire, are visiting, or just passing through, these playgrounds are perfect for fun-filled family days out. Pack up a picnic, explore these fantastic play areas, and enjoy an unforgettable day out this summer!
