Despite the freezing temperatures, the dedicated staff members of Playdale, stepped out on Wednesday, 13th December, to raise awareness for the NSPCC’s annual Christmas fundraising walk, known as Walk for Children. This event raises awareness and funds to support the NSPCC’s vital work in protecting and assisting abused and vulnerable children.

The Walk for Children, a nationwide event in which individuals across the UK walk a 5-kilometre distance traditionally falls on the longest night of the year, the 22nd of December. To ensure the participation of Playdale team members, we rescheduled the walk a week earlier, coinciding with the company’s quarterly sales meeting. This adjustment ensured the full participation of remote workers from various locations as they gathered at Playdale’s headquarters in Haverthwaite.

The team set off from Old Farmhouse in Ulverston and ascended Hoad Monument, where the President of Playdale, Barry Leahey MBE, thanked the team for their fundraising efforts. Joining the Walk for Children, Playdale staff will help raise crucial funds to support the NSPCC in answering more life-changing calls to Childline. Upon completing the 5km walk, the team received a warm and hearty welcome back at the Old Farmhouse, where they enjoyed delicious pie and peas.
Thus far, the walk has achieved a commendable sum of just over £700, contributing to a total of £1,500 raised over the year for the NSPCC.
The funds will support the charity’s mission to protect children, support families, and promote well-being across the UK.
Our dedication at Playdale to supporting the NSPCC through the Walk for Children event showcases our commitment to corporate social responsibility and the welfare of children. By actively participating in events like this, we demonstrate our belief in making a positive difference in our community and beyond.
With the success of this year’s Walk for Children, the NSPCC can continue its mission of protecting children and creating a brighter future for the young generations of the United Kingdom.
